Barbecue season! Remember your safety when using gas cylinders, there is a health risk and look our for the rules on the use of gas cylinders.

As we know, summer is starting and with it comes the season of barbecues and entertaining with many types of carbonated beverages.  CO2 in steel cylinders is used to dispense them. However, not all bottles used for carbonation across the market are made for this purpose. As we have found, many are replacing the correct bottles designed for carbonation, or for the food industry, with types of bottles that were made for completely different purposes, such as fire extinguishers. Replacing bottles is definitely not a good solution, as bottles for food use have much stricter controls and health claims.

How is it possible that such unacceptable substitutions are taking place? Most of the time, the bottle markings are broken, which is not allowed. However, it does happen and a non-compliant container suddenly becomes a 'food bottle'. It is then filled with a gas other than that for which it was intended. If beer or other beverages are filled from such illegally relabelled non-compliant bottles, not only is the quality of the beverage reduced, but in a worse case, there may also be adverse effects on human health. It is therefore extremely important to pay attention to the quality and designation of the bottles used in your catering establishments or at various events to avoid problems that can translate into health problems for consumers.
